Country Lakes Bed and Breakfast is as rich in history as it is in charm. Founded by Ross and Louise Carswell in the 1980's, the B&B originally centered around a flight service. Ross treated hunters and fishermen to remote areas of Alaska and flew visitors from around the world to nearby glaciers. Today, a float plane slip is available to visiting pilots and Louise continues the tradition of ensuring you feel welcome in your home away from home.

Ross and Louise began their Alaskan adventure in Fort Yukon in the early 1960's. Living in a small log cabin, they hauled their water from the Yukon River, lived a simple life and began their family. Ross, a bush pilot for Wien Air Alaska brought supplies from Fairbanks. Louise, originally from Oregon, enjoyed the rich tapestry of the Alaskan bush in a way that few can claim.

If you have time to visit with Louise during your stay, you'll find her stories and photographs from the early years in Alaska, as well as her helpful knowledge of the Great Land, will make your visit more than just a place to stay.
